This student boldly served our country as a member of the Army National Guard, traveling near and far for multiple deployments. Simeon’s work ethic will serve him well in his next chapter of studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology where he will build the foundation of his knowledge and connections in the field of aerospace engineering.
Simeon Salia
The recipient of the Frances & Earl Perry Memorial Veterans Scholarship, Simeon Salia, is a member of the Army National Guard. In his time in the Guard, he has answered the call of duty numerous times, first serving in Georgia after Hurricane Irma hit, serving a deployment in Afghanistan, and more recently, helping to sterilize facilities to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Simeon is a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he is studying aerospace engineering. “Since I’ve been young, I’ve had a general interest in space. Who doesn’t look up at stars and wonder?” Simeon says. That early interest has flourished into enthusiasm for science and aerospace technology. “Georgia Tech has the resources, education, and connections for me to start an aerospace engineering company, which is one of my life’s greatest ambitions,” Simeon says.
For Simeon, receiving the Frances & Earl Perry Memorial Veterans Scholarship means he will not have to work this fall, allowing him more time to focus on his studies. “I want to say I’m grateful. I’ll never forget what this firm has done for me. I remember every scholarship I’ve ever gotten — that’s how much they mean to me,” Simeon says.
Congratulations, Simeon! We look forward to seeing all of the positive contributions you will make to the world.
