As a VA Disability claims appeal lawyer, I have extensive experience helping Military Veterans claim and obtain VA disability benefits owed to them as a result of their dedicated service to this country.
Marc Whitehead & Associates is a nationwide practice in VA disability claims.
Veterans may qualify for Veterans Disability Benefits for physical or psychological injury or illness. Yet Veterans who apply for disability benefits are challenged by having their claims severely delayed, or worse, denied.
Disabled veterans are faced with endless regulations, procedures and gridlock so complex, the process meant to support them is, instead, a crippling obstruction.
This is unacceptable. At Marc Whitehead & Associates, we are determined to secure veterans their rightful disability benefits and veterans disability rating.

VA Disability Claims and Service-Connected Benefits
If a veteran meets the criteria for active service and becomes disabled as the result of an injury during active service (or a disability that is aggravated as the result of active service), he or she may be eligible for Service Connected Disability Benefits. The VA follows complex regulations to determine the veteran’s eligibility for these benefits.
Service-connected disabilities are not always incurred during combat. In order to qualify for service connected benefits, the veteran will have to have sustained injuries or illness as a result of their military service while on active duty. In addition, if an injury or an illness was made worse by the rigors of active duty, then the veteran will be able to collect benefits.
Once the veteran is found eligible for disability compensation, the next step is for the Veterans Administration to evaluate the extent of the disability. A rating system – called the Schedule for Rating Disabilities – is used to categorize a veteran’s degree of disability resulting from service-connected injuries.
Some of the many disabilities suffered by our veterans that can qualify them for VA disability benefits include:
- PTSD
- Back and orthopedic injuries
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Gulf War Syndrome
- Agent Orange Exposure
- Radiation Exposure
- Gunshot or shrapnel wounds
- Amputations
- Heart Conditions
- Cancer
- Severe burns
- Spinal cord injuries
- Severe lacerations
- Exposure to toxic chemicals
- Diabetes
- Depression
- Hearing loss
Experienced Attorney for VA Disability Claims
I have successfully represented veterans nationwide with an extensive variety of disability claims. Personal experience and conviction compelled me to become an Accredited Veterans Disability Claim Attorney.
As a child, I was raised by my uncle, who was a disabled veteran. My uncle served in the United States Army during WWII in the Sicilian and Italian campaigns and in the Korean War. I witnessed firsthand the physical toll that his service to his country took upon his body as he grew older.
I also witnessed the long struggle for him to win his Veterans Disability claim. Like countless other Veterans of the United States military services, he suffered from service-connected disabilities. As I have observed first hand, service connected injuries frequently do not become severe until years after the veteran has left the military.
Because of this experience, I have become an Accredited Veterans Disability Claim Attorney as required to practice law before the VA. We represent veterans at all levels within the VA disability system including claims before the VA Regional Office, the Board of Veterans’ Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

When VA Disability Claims Are Denied or Delayed
Our veterans are forced to suffer through a very complicated and disheartening claims process in order to be considered for disability benefits. Many applications for VA disability benefits are denied on the basis that the disabling condition isn’t service connected, existed before service, or isn’t severe enough.
In addition, the VA faces thousands of backlogged cases. New applications by veterans returning from the Afghanistan and Iraq wars have further added to the volume and the complexity of pending VA disability claims.
It is an injustice that veterans must engage in an appeals process that can take years to finalize. Meanwhile, our veterans continue to suffer debilitating injuries that affect their every day lives.
