This student embodies a servant’s heart. Service is a core value to Paige Langum, who grew up in a military home where service and sacrifice were regularly practiced. Paige plans to give back to communities through beautifully designed landscape architecture where others may find space and peace.
Paige Langum
Paige Langum is a student at Texas A&M studying landscape architecture and minoring in urban planning and psychology. “Studying landscape architecture converges my love of nature’s aesthetic beauty, art, and STEM,” Paige wrote in her essay. “I long to provide environments promoting beauty, order, restoration, and peace amid a chaotic world. I dream to create a living body of work, inviting visitors and residents into spaces that calm, invigorate, and inspire.”
Growing up as the daughter of a Coast Guard helicopter pilot, Paige got used to change while living in nine different states and attending three different high schools. Her upbringing also taught her a lot about giving back. “Defined by my family’s service to our nation, sacrifice and service are alive and active words in my military home. Volunteering is transposing words into action,” Paige wrote. Paige has taken this message to heart and has given her time to countless organizations and groups throughout high school and college.
Being awarded the Frances & Earl Perry Memorial Veterans Scholarship means Paige is able to focus more on her studies and excel in school. “It takes some of the burden off,” Paige says. “I’m able to do more in college because I don’t have to worry about having to work.” To the team at Marc Whitehead & Associates, Paige says, “I would just love to say thank you for supporting us kids and our dreams. We get to better the world because of it.”
Paige, we look forward to seeing all of the positive contributions you will make to the world.
